2014 USATF Minnesota Youth Track & Field Clinic & Meet
Sunday, January 19, 2014
University of St. Thomas Indoor Track
St. Paul, Minnesota
9:30 AM - 2:45 PM
(Registration 8:30 - 9:30)
Coaches and athletes from the University of St. Thomas will be presenting techniques for starting, sprinting, hurdling, middle distance and distance running, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault and throws (discussion of discus and learn by doing with shot put). Participants will be provided with opportunities to learn by doing at this clinic and should come dressed ready to run, jump and throw. Track spikes (no longer than 1/4 inch) may be worn but are not required for the running and jumping events. Parents and coaches are welcome to listen and learn during the presentations.
Following the presentation and practice, a brief meet will be held. Running events will include the 55m, 55m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 600m, 1000m and 1600m. A medley relay will be held if time allows. Shot put, long jump and triple jump will be contested with each athlete being permitted three jumps or throws.
Pole vault and high jump will remain open practice and not be contested events. Athletes wishing to participate in pole vault will need to supply their own poles.
Cost: $40 (2014 USATF members pay only $20 for the clinic and meet; 2014 USATF memberships may be purchased at the door or in advance by visiting www.usatf.org). You can speed up the registration process by a) purchasing a USATF membership in advance; or b) downloading a paper membership application and completing it in advance. Please come prior to 9:15 AM in order for us to process the day of event registrations. Registration opens at 8:30 AM. Paper membership forms will be available. Please bring proof of age so your age can be verified in the USATF database (copy of birth certificate, passport, driver's license or driver's permit accepted). Athletes will be permitted to participate without proof of age but this makes all future meet participation easier if completed. Checks or cash accepted for payment, no credit cards. Parent or guardian will need to sign entry form waiver and membership application for athletes under 18 years of age.
Eligibility: Athletes from 5-18 years of age are invited to attend the 3rd Annual USATF Minnesota Youth Track & Field Clinic. It is not required that participants have a 2014 USATF membership but a $20 discount is provided to 2014 USATF members.
All entries will be processed at the event.
