Athlete of the Month

February 2008
The Minnesota Associtaion of USA Track & Field is proud to announce that Jenelle Deatherage and Jason Lehmkuhle are Minnesota's Athletes of the Month for February, 2008.

Deatherage was recognized for her victory in the mile at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on January 26. The former Team USA Minnesota star clocked 4:32.95 in an effort that re-established her as a contender for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team at 1500 meters.

Lehmkuhle was recognized for his runner-up finish at the USA Half Marathon Championship in Houston on January 13. Lehmkuhle, who finished 5th at the U.S. Olympic Men's Marathon Trials in November, clocked a PR 1:02:32 in the effort.

January 2008
The Minnesota Association of USA Track & Field is proud to announce that Rob Finnerty and Katelin Rains are USATF Minnesota's Athletes of the Month for January 2008.

Finnerty is honored for finishing 9th at the Footlocker Cross Country Nationals last month.  The MSHSL Class AA cross country champion from Burnsville High School is bound for the University of Wisconsin next year.

Rains, a Minnesota State Mankato junior, is recognized for breaking her own NCAA Division II best in the pole vault with a clearance of 14 feet 1/2 inch in December.  Rains is the defending Division II indoor champion in the event.
